Commodity Watch: Zinc futures rise on higher participation

New Delhi: Zinc prices rose Rs 1.20 to Rs 303.45 per kilogram in futures trade amid a pick-up in spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for January delivery traded higher by Rs 1.20 or 0.4 per cent to Rs 303.45 per kilogram with a business turnover of 3,183 lots.
Marketmen said the widening of positions by participants, following a pick-up in demand from consuming industries, kept zinc prices higher in the futures trade.
Copper futures gain on spot demand
Copper futures rose 0.62 per cent to Rs 1,140.50 per kilogram due to higher spot demand. Copper contracts for January delivery grew Rs 7 in a business turnover of 8,414 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to higher bets by participants.
Aluminium futures up on fresh bets
Aluminium prices rose 55 paise to Rs 286.65 per kilogram in futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market.
